Distributed antenna systems continue to grow in popularity as the drivers that create demand for them remain strong. Increasing numbers of user organizations are investigating and deploying DAS to support their mobile-connectivity needs. This webcast seminar, hosted by Cabling Installation & Maintenance, examines the mobile-use trends and facility considerations that make distributed antenna systems realistic options for enterprise environments, the components that make up a DAS including the supporting cabling infrastructure, and some practical best practices for accomplishing as DAS deployment as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Presentation 1: When, Where, and Why DAS is a Preferred Solution
Combinations of mobile-data use, building/facility construction, a DAS’s performance capabilities and other causes have made distributed antenna systems a practical and effective solution to many enterprises’ connectivity challenges. This presentation outlines the dynamics that bring DAS to the forefront as a technology solution. It can include descriptive information about trends in mobile-data use, the physical setup and/or construction of end-user facilities that inhibit service-provider wireless connectivity, and can compare DAS to other enterprise-level wireless connectivity technologies. The presentation provides a detailed explanation of why DAS is viewed as a technology of choice by many, and a solution of necessity by some.
Presentation 2: Distributed Antenna System Components and Architecture
This presentation describes for the audience the elements that make up a DAS as well as the general architecture of a system. It covers considerations such as a DAS’s proprietary vs. standardized nature, going on to explain the hardware as well as the cabling-media options that are available. The presentation also offers an overview of the design and installation processes for these systems.
Presentation 3: Managing a DAS Deployment Project
The specification, design and installation of a distributed antenna system require significant coordination among a number of parties. This presentation provides a set of best-practice guidelines that takes the audience through the process of a DAS deployment. Beginning with the user’s recognition that DAS is the appropriate system for them, the presentation details the processes as well as the parties involved in bringing the project through to completion.
